Adolfo, su gerente, me esperaba desde primera hora de la mañana.
Tras mostrarme las instalaciones fuimos directamente a talleres donde allí esperaba mi nueva compañera de viajes. Nada mas verla, a lo lejos, ya sabia que era "ella"...
Blanca y negra, deslumbrarte, allí esperaba para afrontar el reto de su vida... dar la vuelta al mundo!!!!
Presentación a los mecánicos, Octavio y Miguel, quienes velarán porque la V-Strom salga al viaje en perfectas condiciones.
Más de dos horas que se sometieron a mis preguntas. Parecía todo un interrogatorio. Quería saber todo lo que se pudiera saber sobre la moto, y tanto Octavio en la parte mecánica como Miguel en la parte eléctrica respondieron amablemente a todas las cuestiones que les hacía.
Quiero desde aquí darles las gracias publicamente por tanta paciencia que tuvieron conmigo y tanta ilusión que pusieron en mi proyecto...
Llaves al contacto, últimas despedidas, primera velocidad y a la carretera.
La moto marcaba apenas 6km en tu cuentakilómetros..
Las marchas entraban con total suavidad y la moto se dejaba llevar como si la conociera de toda la vida. Reconozco que de la emoción hasta el pulso me temblaba.
Había salido sin regular los espejos, ni la posición del manillar y mannetas... asi que todo estaba como "provisional"... pero lo más importante era que rodaba con "mi moto"!!!!
Autopista y hacia el sur de la isla... Impresionante lo suave que va. No puedo acelerarla porque está en rodaje pero se nota su fuerza y sobre todo la curva de potencia muy suave y sin sobresaltos.
Unos bajos extraordinarios que entrega la potencia justa y necesaria en cualquier régimen de vueltas.
Interruptores y accesorios, todo en su sitio. Indicadores los justos y necesarios.. ni más ni menos.
Las curvas rápidas sin problemas. Sorprende.
Directo a la primera gasolinera que encontré. Allí no puedo aguantar la emoción y entablo conversación con el gasolinero. "Eres el primero que le vas a poner gasolina, así que trátala bien.... porque pronto sera una estrella". El se sorprendió mucho y sonrió a lo que le repliqué "Recuérdala bien ya que en unos meses veras sus fotos en revistas especializadas dando la vuelta al mundo..."

Adolfo,
his manager, was waiting for me first thing in the morning. After
showing the facilities we went straight to shops where there waiting for
me, was my new travel companion. Nothing more than seeing it at a
distance, and I knew it was "her"...
White and black, dazzling, there she was waiting to face the challenge of your life ... travel around the world!!
Introduction
to the mechanics, and Miguel Octavio, who shall ensure that the V-Strom
is in perfect condition for the trip. They spent over 2 hours answering
all the questions I had. It felt like an interrogation. I wanted to
know everything there was to know about the bike. Octavio in the
mechanical part and Miguel in the electrical part, kindly answered all
the questions that I asked them. I just want to thank them here publicly
for having so much patience with me and for being so excited for my
project.
Keys to in the ignition, last goodbyes, first speed and the road. The bike just passed 6km mark on the odometer ..
The
motorcycle was going so smoothly I swear I felt as if I rode this bike
before. I have to admit, I was so excited that I was shaking with
emotion.
I had left with unregulated mirrors or
handlebar position... so everything was as "provisional" ... but more
importantly I was riding "my bike"!!
I took the highway and headed south of the island ...it's amazing how
smooth it goes. It showed it's strength and above all, during a very
smooth power curve, it showed it's ability to go through it smoothly.
Extraordinary low, it delivered just the
right amount of power in any system turns. Switches and accessories, all
in place. Indicators are precise and necessary.. no more no less. I was
surprised.
Straight to the first gas station that I
found, I couldn't contain my excitement. I struck up conversation with
the gas attendant, "You're the first person whos going to fill her gas
tank, so treat her right .... because soon she'll be a star." He was
very surprised and smiled at what I said. "Remember this bike, because
in a few months you will see her photos in magazines going around the
world ..."
