VIAJE AL CONTINENTE CON NAVIERA ARMAS

Charlie, por qué será que cada acontecimiento (bueno o malo) comienza con el terrible sonido del despertador???? No hay nada mas... romántico???

Ni un segundo tardé en ponerme en pie. Directo a la ducha y al garaje... o directo al garaje y luego a la ducha... no recuerdo.

Jimena, mi compañera de viajes, había quedado lista desde hacía días aguardando le llegara el momento...   y ese momento llegó.
Momento de introducir la llave.... uffff comienzan los nervios. Giramos a posición "on" y damos al botón "start"....  WOW COMO SUENA!!!!!
Jimena tronaba como nunca, su sonido casi celestial.... "Mamma mía"!!!!

Prmera velocidad  y comenzamos a rodar.... frío, mucho frío. Eran apenas las 2am y partimos hacia la cafetería donde había quedado con los amigos que querían acompañarme al puerto.
Allí estaban todos, parecía que el último había sido yo. jeje

JOURNEY TO THE CONTINENT WITH NAVIERA ARMAS

Charlie, why is it that every event (good or bad) begins with the terrible sound of the alarm clock?? There is nothing more romantic ...?? 

Not a second more it took me to get on my feet. I went either straight to the shower then to the garage or to the garage and then straight to the shower... I do not remember. 

Jimena, my traveling companion, was there waiting ready for days for this moment... and that moment has arrived. Time to start the ignition.... and then  uffff nerves begin. WOW WHAT A SOUND!!! .... Jimena sounded amazing as ever, almost like a celestial sound.... "mamma mia"!! 

First we speed away a bit and we continue forward .... cold, it was very cold. It was barely 2 A.M. We made it to the cafe where I was meeting with my  friends who wanted to accompany me to the port. All of them were there, it was as if I was the last one who arrived. hehe

Cafe, fotos y risas... abrazos, encargos y sobre todo gratos momentos.
Pedro, Fran, Paco, Jose Joan y yo... motores en marcha  y hacia el último destino en nuestra isla.
Me tenían una sorpresa guardada y es que al pasar por una gasolinera estaban también esperando Lirón e Iván... buena gente, si señor!!!!

We had coffee, took pictures and shared laughs ... gave hugs, asked me to bring them something back but mostly, had great time. Pedro, Fran, Paco,  Jose Joan and I go on our way to the last destination on our island. They had a surprise for me as we passed by a gas station, there waiting was Liron and Ivan... They're good people, yes sir!!

 

 

Que bonito era ver las motos camino del puerto, todas en línea  y en perfecto orden. Ya ni el frío se sentía de la emoción. 

Abrazos de despedidas y promesas de regresar... enfila Jimena a la bodega del barco, con ilusiones y tristezas, emociones y dudas... pero allí nos vamos.

It was nice to see all these bikes going to the Port , all in line and in perfect order. I didn't even feel cold anymore. 

Hugs, farewells and promises to return ... Jimena was tucked into the hold of the ship, with hopes and sorrows, emotions and doubts ... and there we go.

 

 

 

Había llegado el momento de la partida ese que tanto desee....

Ahora le tocaba a Jimena y a mi mismo, demostrar para lo que nos hemos estado preparando, conseguir nuestras metas y regresar sanos y salvos.

Por delante más de 30 horas de barco... esto apuntaba a hacerse eterno, pero que remedio...

Pronto haríamos amigos... conocidos de dos días, amigos para toda la vida. Edu y Javier, uno recorriendo territorio nacional con su esposa y una custom. El otro camino de Estonia con una trail y poquísimo tiempo....

Gracias a ellos el viaje se hizo entretenido. Contamos chistes, historias y anécdotas...todas ellas relacionadas a que no sabes con que? jajajajaja

Como siempre el trato del personal de NAVIERA ARMAS espectacular!!!!

Una tripulación dispuesta a cualquier cosa para que sus pasajeros tengan un viaje lo más placentero.

Dos desayunos, dos almuerzos y una cena con un menú de lo más variado hicieron que no echaramos de menos comer en casa...

El camarote es espectacular. Justo lo necesario para estar comodos. Dos camas, baño completo y TV. Qué más podemos pedir???

And then the moment I was waiting for arrived....

Now it was Jimena's and my turn to show everyone what we have been preparing for, achieving our goals and returning safely. 

We had over 30 hours on the boat ahead of us... this proved to be eternal, but what choice do we have....

Soon we would be making new friends ... friends for two days .. friends for life. Edu and Javier, one who was traveling the country with his wife and a custom. and the other was going to Estonia on a trail bike with no time .... Thanks to them, the trip was fun. we told each other jokes, stories and anecdotes ... all related to ... can you guess about what? hahaha

As always the staff at NAVIERA ARMS were spectacular!! A crew willing to do anything to make their passengers have the most comfortable and enjoyable trip.

Two breakfasts, two lunches, and a dinner with a wide variety menu that didn't make us miss our food from home... The cabin was spectacular. Just enough to be comfortable. Two beds, a bathroom and TV. What more can I ask for??

Desde luego los canarios nos sentimos muy orgullosos de la naviera que hace los traslados entre Canarias y territorio continental...

Una vez más, mi más sincero reconocimiento a NAVIERA ARMAS por el trato con Jimena, mi proyecto y conmigo mismo.

No podía irme de Canarias sin despedirme de una de las principales empresas que apostó por nuestro proyecto: Autorepuestos Fierro, distribuidor de Suzuki para la provincia de Tenerife.

En gran parte, gracias a ellos podemos cumplir este sueño que hoy emprendemos.

Muchas decenas de kilómetros, muchas experiencias en tres continentes y muchas horas bajo las penurias climáticas me han convencido que uno de los puntos fundamentales para el éxito de una aventura como esta es la equipación.

Podemos tener frío, calor, estar mojados o incómodos y seguir rodando... una hora, dos... quizás tres... pero tarde o temprano esta situación nos agotará y hará que la jornada se haga interminable obligándonos a detenernos.

We could go through hot, cold, wet climates or be uncomfortable and we can keep going for one hour or two... maybe three ... but sooner or later this situation will drain us and make the day become endless, forcing us to stop.

Comenzamos nuestro viaje en moto que servirá como ejemplo para experimentar con nuestra equipación. Un viaje real vivido por mi persona...
Nos vamos a Chile, exactamente al desierto de Atacama, la ciudad de San Pedro de Atacama. Mayo 2010.

We started our trip on motorcycle to serve as an example to experiment with our gear kit. A real tour performed by me myself... We went to Chile, the Atacama Desert. San Pedro de Atacama to be exact, on May 2010.

Partimos a las 7am rumbo a Argentina. Para eso tendremos que cruzar casi todas las condiciones climáticas existentes.
En nuestra salida la temperatura es perfecta, alrededor de 20º, la equipación REVIT se comporta muy bien. En pocos kilómetros ni nos daremos cuenta que la llevamos puesta. Una comodidad excelente y un diseño vanguardista que nos dará el toque de exclusividad.

De pronto sube la temperatura... 30º... 35º... hasta 44º....   El gran desierto de Atacama no perdona.  Los milagros no son posibles, calor vamos a tener, pero aquí marcamos una gran diferencia con otras equipaciones. REVIT al ser tan ligera y tener grandes entradas de aire regulables, nos permitirá una ventilación y una comodidad difícil de imaginar. Con la posibilidad de desmontar la protección térmica y la protección para agua en pantalón y chaqueta, el peso se ve increíblemente reducido.

We left at 7 A.M. bound for Argentina. For that we had to cross almost all existing weather conditions. When we left, the weather was perfect, about 20 degrees, the REVIT gear performed very well. Within a few kilometers, we noticed that when we were wearing it provided excellent comfort and a modern design that will give it a touch of exclusivity. 

Suddenly the temperature rises... 30º... 35º... 44º.... Celcius, until the Great Atacama Desert won't take pity on you. Miracles are not possible, we know we're gonna experience heat, but this is where you see the big difference between other gear kits. REVIT, known for it's lightweight and large air mesh panels allowing for maximum cooling. They allow ventilation and comfort that's hard to believe. With the ability to remove the heat shield and waterproof pants and jacket, it is incredibly lightweight. 

Encaramos la gran subida a Los Andes, cordillera que separa estos dos grandes países...
En la subida unos vientos cruzados intermitentes que nos dan varios sustos. El comportamiento de nuestra equipación es perfecta. Ajustada a nuestro cuerpo, apenas produce ruido con la fricción del aire. Subimos cremalleras, cerramos conductos de ventilación y adelante...

La subida se hace interminable por un puerto de montaña complicado, tanto en desnivel como en curvas. Trafico pesado con olor a frenos calientes.

Now encounter the great rise to the Andes mountain range that separates these two great countries... On the climb up, there were intermittent crosswinds that gave us several scares. The performance of our gear was perfect. Adjusted to our bodies, it barely produced little to no noise with the air friction. We zip up and close our vents and continue on... 

The climb is endless for a mountain complex in both slope and curves. The traffic is heavy with the odor of hot brakes.

Pasamos rápidamente los 2000 metros sobre el nivel del mar, los 2500, los 3500 y el frío comienza a sentirse. Colocamos las protecciones térmicas y de agua tanto en pantalón como chaqueta y continuamos con la subida. La temperatura ha bajado radicalmente. Nos encontramos a 11º.

Cerca del techo del mundo, hemos sobrepasado los 4000 metros y sigue el ascenso. La temperatura 5º y estamos perfectos.
Nos falta el oxígeno, nos hace ir más lentos pero la temperatura corporal se mantiene.

Before we know it, we've passed 2,000 meters above sea level, at 2,500, 3,500, we begin to feel cold. We put on our waterproof and thermal pants and jacket for protection and continue on with the climb. The temperature has dropped dramatically. We are at 11º.
Close to the top of the world, we have surpassed 4,000 meters and we continue climbing. The tempeture drops to 5º and we still feel perfect. We are in need of oxygen, so it makes us go slower but our body temperature is still intact.

(Desierto Salinas Grandes - Argentina)

Seguimos ascendiendo...  4200... 4500... y en esta mañana hemos tocado techo a los 4844 metros sobre el nivel del mar con una temperatura de 2º y unos vientos cruzados totalmente congelados. La equipación REVIT nos mantiene con una temperatura corporal perfecta, incluyendo las manos que están protegidos por guantes.

Still, we're climbing... 4,200... 4,500... and this morning we peaked at 4,844 meters above sea level with a temperature of 2° and with completely frozen crosswinds. The REVIT gear continues to maintain the perfect body temperature, including our hands which are protected by their gloves. 

(Paso de Jama, 4226 m.s.n.m)

Comienza el descenso marcado por el aumento de temperatura y un puerto de montaña no tan acentuado.
Rápidamente la temperatura aumenta y desmontamos la protección térmica de nuestra equipación.
Volvemos a los 20º iniciales pero esta vez se respira "humedad". Las nubes del horizonte amenazan lluvia. Será otra prueba a la que someteremos a la equipación REVIT.

Las amenazas se cumplen y en la entrada de la última ciudad argentina nos alcanza una tormenta que descarga sobre nosotros unos 15 minutos de lluvia. Con cremalleras cerradas y la protección para lluvia, el agua se mantuvo alejada de nuestro cuerpo. Ni una sola gota pudo traspasar nuestra ropa. 

Una vez en el hotel analizamos las condiciones climáticas del día y desde luego en menos de 24 horas hemos tenido todas las posibilidades que un motociclista puede encontrar en su ruta. 

La equipación REVIT funcionó a la perfección, cumpliendo sus objetivos de seguridad y confort para el motociclista...

The descent begins. We notice the increased temperature. 

The temperature increases rapidly and we remove the thermal protection off our gear. 

We are back to 20º, only this time we can breathe the humid air. The clouds on the horizon tell us it's going to rain. This means there will be another test to prove the capability of the REVIT gear. 

The threats of rain are met and as we enter the town in Argentina, we are chased out by the storm for at least 15 minutes. With our gear zipped up and rain cover on, the rain was unable to pass through our gear, not even a single drop of rain touched our bodies. 

Once we arrive at the hotel, we reminisce the weather conditions of the day and certainly within 24 hours we have had all the possible weather climates that a motorcyclist can find on their route. The REVIT gear worked perfectly, fulfilling its objectives of safety and comfort for the rider...

Esperar... esperar... esperar..... DESESPERAR!!!

Todo listo... hasta la moto cargada.

Me plantee no cargarla hasta el último día pero no puedo. Es superior a mis fuerzas. 

Todo... ropa, accesorios, electrónica, repuestos, herramientas, etc etc etc

Hasta el neceser lo metí en las maletas. Imagínate querido Charlie que hasta tuve que comprar un cepillo de dientes para estos dias ya que el mío ya lo metí al equipaje.

Waiting ... waiting ... waiting ..... WAITING!!

All set ... my bike is fully loaded.. I planned on not to load everything till the last minute, but I just couln't wait anymore. 

I packed everything... clothes, accessories, electronics, spare parts, tools, etc etc etc.Can you imagine it Charlie? I had to buy a toothbrush for these last couple days since I put mine in my luggage already.

Coche fuera del garaje y la moto en medio de todo! 
Estoy tan nervioso y ansioso que hasta sonreír me cuesta para las fotos...

I parked my car outside of the garage because my bike is taking up all the space. I'm so nervous and anxious that I can hardly even smile for photos...

Estoy como la gallina que no sabe donde pone el huevo... De un lado para otro, sin nada que hacer, solo comiéndome las uñas y pensando.. "hice esto? creo que si... y esto otro? creo que tambien"...

Así todo el día. Esto va a terminal mal: O me voy de viaje o me voy al psiquiatra!!!  jajajaj

I literally feel like a chicken who does not know where to lay her egg.. I Can't sit still and all can I do is bite my nails and think.

so I'm thinking ..should I do this? should I chage that? "... This is how I am all day. This is gonna end badly: If I don't end up going on this trip ..then I'm definetely gonig to end up going to the psychiatrist! hahaha

Revisando lo revisado. La moto lista para la vuelta al mundo

Ya mi amigo Miguel Liendo desde Argentina me había recomendado que, aunque voy respaldado por el mejor equipo de profesionales de Suzuki Fierrro, sería conveniente que comprar uno de esos aparatitos que informan de los errores electrónicos de la moto que quedan grabados.  

Reviewing what's been revised.The bike is ready to go around the world.

 Although My friend Miguel Liendo from Argentina had recommended that while I am going to be supported by the best team of Suzuki fierrro, He told me I  might want to buy one of those electronic gadgets to report errors recorded on bike.

Así pues, le hice caso una vez más y compré el aparatito.
La instalación super sencilla, conectarlo no lleva más problemas.
Ya sólo quedaba arrastrar el raton y pinchar donde dice "Conectar"!!!!

So I did listen and bought the device. It had real simple installation instructions connecting it, it doesn't give you any problems. Now all you have to do is just drag the mouse and click where it says "Connect"!

 

 No tardó ni 3 segundos ya teníamos toda la información de la moto. En principio asusta, pero analizándolo poco a poco es muy simple.

It took less than three seconds and it had all the information of the bike. At first it was overwelming but gradually it end it up being very simple.

Constatada la información con los parámetros normales de la moto, podemos decir querido Charlie, que Jimena está lista para el gran viaje!!!!

The information observed with the device showed normal parameters of the bike, we can say dear Charlie, that Jimena is ready for the big trip!!

Vuelta al mundo en moto: 3 dias!!!

Tres días.. ni uno, ni dos sino tres!!!!

Si dijera que estoy "emocionado" estaría mintiendo...

Las sensaciones que tengo es de desespero...

Para personas organizadas y que han previsto hasta el último detalle, estos días sin hacer nada se vuelven eternos. Demasiado tiempo para pensar.

Así pues.. esperemos...

Around the world on motorcycle: 3 days!

Three days .. not one, not two .. THREE!

To say I'm "excited" would be an understatement... The emotions I'm feeling right now are despair and hopelessness... For people who have organized and perfectly know how to plan a trip this huge, with days filled with nothing to do... they feel eternal. Too much time to think. 

so now.. we wait.....
